Membership Levels
Full Member
Any social worker holding a Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited
graduate school of social work who has a minimum of five (5) years
full-time (30 hours per week) practice as a clinician following their
social work professional graduate degree, may apply for membership.
At least two (2) years of experience will have been under the supervision
of a Clinical Social Worker.
Education Requirement: Their social work professional graduate
degree preferably will have been earned in a clinical sequence of
course work and field training. If their social work professional
graduate degree was earned in a non-clinical (i.e., administrative
or community organization) sequence, then the five (5) years of post-graduate
clinical social work experience must include (3) years under qualified
supervision.
Clinical Supervision Requirement: Clinical supervision may have
been either individual or group, but may not have been less than
seventy-five (75%) percent individual supervision.
A minimum is one hundred (100) hours of clinical supervision for
a graduate degree earned in a clinical sequence and one-hundred fifty
(150) hours of clinical supervision for a graduate degree earned
in a non-clinical sequence is required.
Clinical supervision shall be from a Social Worker whose predominant
training and experience are in an applied clinical field. Preferably,
the supervisor will be currently practicing as a clinician. The supervisor
should be sanctioned through training, experience, or both as qualified
to provide clinical supervision.
Associate Member
Any social worker holding a social work professional graduate degree
from an accredited graduate school of social work who is currently
practicing in a clinical setting or who has an interest in clinical
social work may apply as an Associate of the Society.
Student Member
Any student currently enrolled in a Master or Doctoral degree program
in an accredited school of social work in the clinical sequence or
its equivalent, and who has an interest in clinical social work may
apply for student membership status.
Retired Member
Any social worker holding a social work professional graduate degree
from an accredited graduate school of social work and who has practiced
in a clinical setting prior to retirement may apply as a retired
member.
